James Lee Murray is a soul singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist. Murray grew up in a musical home, his father a jazz & blues keyboard player and piano technician/rebuilder. His mother a classical pianist and singer. From an early age, James recounts improvising vocally over blues forms at his father’s gigs. Heavily influenced by the music his parents listened to, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Bonnie Raitt, were among the first voices James recalls being moved by. Murray has opened up for Black Pumas, Anderson East, Brett Dennon, Peter Harper, Gomez etc. He has been featured on KRML radio’s pub talk, KQSD radio, and performed live on KPIG radio.
