In 1994, John and his wife Jana moved to Carmel Valley in search of a perfect spot to grow premium grapes and produce world class wines. In 1997 they planted their 7 acre vineyard on a sun drenched hillside.
Nestled on the eastern edge of Carmel Valley sits the Saunders vineyard unique in its lime enriched soils and steep southern facing slopes. The warm summer days and crisp cool nights combine to produce a long growing season that yields intense and concentrated fruit flavors.
The name Boëté is in honor of John’s grandparents Francois and Jeanne Boëté from the little town of Le Juch in the Brittany region of France.
The Boëté Tasting Room is tucked away in Valley Hills Center, just 3.5 miles east of Highway One on Carmel Valley Road. Their sun-filled patio beckons wine enthusiasts to enjoy their artisan wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Reserve, and their signature bordeaux blend Cheval Rouge. Take a seat on their old world bar stools and enjoy the handcrafted bar top that brings out the rustic country atmosphere. It is the perfect place to gather with friends and family.
Boëté winery is family owned and operated. Growing, harvesting and bottling the wine all takes place at their winery past the Village off Carmel Valley Road.
Today, over 6,000 vines are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes on the Saunders Vineyard in Carmel Valley.
The Saunders family welcomes you to join their exclusive wine club with benefits including special events and their annual party at the winery.
