Pat Areias is an original, a whirlwind of passion and creativity.

She was ignited by the fine art of silversmithing, while travelling with the Peace Corps through Central and South America. She paused her travels to apprentice with both silver and leather craftsmen of Ecuador and Mexico, and eventually settled in Cuernavaca, Mexico where, in 1987, Pat Areias Sterling was born. Here too she met her second great passion, Fred Sanchez (whom she was destined to marry).

Today, Areias showcases her mastery and artistry – jewelry and buckles that combine old world craftsmanship with a contemporary Scandinavian aesthetic – in her store in Carmel and New York. Every one of her designs, unlike most cast sterling pieces, is hand rendered so that every piece is unique.
